Year 9 and Year 10 Students

Letter to parent/caregivers and students
Kia ora e te whānau. We are looking forward to welcoming Year 9 and 10 students back to school on Monday, November 22nd. It has been a long time since we were onsite together and I know many students and whānau are both excited and nervous about coming back to school. We are expecting a lot of students onsite next week both with the return of junior students and the start of NZQA external exams. Anyone who is feeling unwell should stay at home.

We have developed a range of protocols (click HERE) which align with the Covid-19 Ministry of Education guidelines. An important aspect to remember is that masks need to be worn by students and staff at all times on the school site unless eating and drinking. Please note that the canteen will be closed for the rest of the year so students need to bring their own food and drink bottle. Water fountains can only be used to fill individual bottles.

We want to encourage all Year 9 and 10 students to return to school, however, we recognise that we are living through times that have been difficult for many. For some students, attending school may cause even more heightened levels of anxiety. For the rest of this year, junior classes will continue to have work posted on Google Classroom for students to complete at home, if they choose not to attend school (see survey below to indicate your intentions). Please note, there will be no Zoom sessions once junior students begin to return to face-to-face learning.

On Monday morning, students will go to their form class at 8.40am and there will be an online assembly to go over all Covid-19 health and safety measures. Students will need to check their timetable on KAMAR over the weekend in case their form room has changed due to NZQA external exams.

I know that it will feel different coming back to school but we are confident that the plans that we have in place will support all students to feel safe.

If you have not yet completed it, please complete this survey (Return to School Survey) to indicate whether or not your child will be returning to school on Monday 22nd November. If you have not completed the vaccination survey, you’ll receive another email next week. Finally, in the event that you need to visit our school to pick up a child, or drop something off, please come straight to the main reception. You will need to wear a mask, sign in using the Covid-19 tracer app, and use hand sanitizer.
