GBHS News update: 15 October 2021

(Alert Level 3)
I hope you are all doing okay. It feels like summer today and I am hoping this good weather will last across the weekend. While we had all hoped that we would begin term 4 back in school, it is not to be and so, from Monday October 18th GBHS GO will resume. Below is some information to help the term get off to a smooth start.

Form time:
We will run form time on Wednesday, October 20th at 10.45am for all year levels. The form time will run the same as it did in term 3, with form teachers posting a link on their classroom page.

Student Devices, internet access & collecting resources from school:
We want to make sure that all students have access to an appropriate device that can be used to access learning online. Please fill out this FORM if you have problems with devices. When we have more information from the Ministry of Education we will be in touch about how we can provide assistance.

Senior students are able to collect resources from Main Reception at school, but this needs to be pre-organised with subject teachers.

Well-being:
The health and well-being of our students, staff and the wider school community is of the greatest importance. We’ve heard from some students that the longer we are away from school, the more challenging they are finding the situation. Hopefully, as students re-engage with school next week this will help. This may be a timely reminder to us all of the Alert Level 3 restrictions, everyone is still limited in how they interact with others.

Counsellors and the 24/7 Youth Workers:
As always, our guidance counsellors and 24/7 youth workers are available to support our students. The contact details for our guidance team can be found in the well-being and support link on the information table below.

Staying safe on social media:
We take online bullying and harassment very seriously regardless of whether we are at school or learning from home, so please make contact if you have any concerns in this area.
If there is inappropriate messaging:
Please take screenshots immediately

Keeping Connected on Instagram:
Our Year 13 Student Leaders really want to help students stay connected with school during Lockdown. They have an Instagram page that will have information, competitions and challenges that any GBHS student can take part in.
