Huntington Beach, LA
The crisp, cool weather is certainly upon us as we head closer towards the term 2 break. Thoughts of swimming and surfing may be far from your minds, but for a group of students it will be their time to shine – as they depart for the sunny shores of Huntington Beach, in California!

William Radley, Joseph Vujcich, Brody Lang, Amber Blackler, Nia Lloyd, Charlotte Blackler and Murray Stapleton will be taking their Surf Life Saving skills to the next level, as part of the Piha / Huntington Beach Junior Lifeguard Exchange.

Travelling to Huntington Beach, on 7 July, the group will spend the next two weeks training alongside Huntington Beach City Lifeguards, learning from their American counterparts, while helping to patrol the beach.

Pictured above are our intrepid travelers (minus Murray) which was taken at their training session last Sunday. They are currently training twice a week in preparation of their trip.

This is an exciting opportunity, enabling our young Surf Life Savers to learn more about lifeguarding and gain some important skills – helping them be better lifeguards at Piha, and in the future.
