Year 10

Health Programme
The Year 10 Sexuality Education module is part of our school Health programme, and will be taking place in term 3. An email has been sent to all parent/caregivers of Year 10 students with the following information. If you have not received it, please contact the school office to check that we have your correct contact details.

Topics in this module will include decision-making, assertiveness skills, consent, safe relationships, contraception, STI information, puberty, HIV/AIDS, affirming diversity.

Year 10 classes will, in addition, work on the Body Safe Programme. You can access the Body Safe website for more information on topics such as keeping safe, sexual violence and abuse, NZ Laws, respectful sexual relating, myths and crimes surrounding sex.

We believe that all students need to both be aware of these issues, and to develop some skills on how to deal with them.

If for any reason you are unhappy about your child being involved in these parts of the Health programme, please send a note to the school, directed to Deputy Principal Sandy Begg, Student Services Co-ordinator, who is more than happy to discuss any questions you may have. Sandy can also be contacted by phone: 817-8173 ext. 216.
