Gaelic Football Fanatic
Kia ora Green Bay whānau! My name is Seán Finan, I have just moved over from Ireland where I completed my Bachelor of Education in Materials and Architectural Technology at the University of Limerick…to keep it simple (like any good design) I am a woodwork teacher who finds job satisfaction in the classroom relations I have with students and seeing them engage with their creativity.

Back at home, I played a lot of Hurling and Gaelic Football for my local G.A.A club. Students look it up on YouTube, I’d love to hear your opinion on our national sport. However, after our last encounter in the World Cup quarter-final, I’d rather not talk about rugby!

In my previous school I worked in the ASD unit which was really rewarding work and a great insight into the individual learning needs of students that teachers need to be able to cater for.

Green Bay High School has been very welcoming and supportive in my move to New Zealand, the sense of community at the school makes me feel at home. I look forward to developing positive relationships with students and staff. I believe a happy and productive environment allows students the space to have fun with their intelligence and produce something that has meaning and value to them.

I believe that going on a creative journey and working towards innovative solutions gives students the opportunity to express themselves and most importantly have fun.

“Students, if you see me floating around the school make sure to stop and have a chat!”
