Pride Week

Let’s Celebrate
A range of student led groups are joining forces to celebrate Pride Week at Green Bay High School.

Student groups such as the PSSP team, the Live for Tomorrow group and our Pasifika group are holding a variety of amazing activities to celebrate love and equality for all! Some of these activities include:

Monday: Form Class Kahoot
Tuesday: Myth Busting and Balloon popping: come along for some interactive myth busting and balloon popping around mental health stigmas – brought to you by our Live For Tomorrow team. Of course, there will also be the PB4L- bake sale!
Friday: Pride Parade & mufti day (gold coin donation, proceeds go to OUTline NZ)
In the lead up to Pride Week, the PSSP group talked at Year level assemblies about how students can get involved to showcase what pride means to them at Green Bay High School. During Pride Week, the Live For Tomorrow team are promoting mental health awareness for the LGBT+ Community; and the school’s Pasifika group are organising a Pasifika Tag Tournament.

Each form class is also encouraged to enter a Flag competition – to create a flag(s) that shows what you think Pride at GBHS looks like. Form teachers will send a photo of all entries to Leah (Year 13 dean) by Monday, 25th June – where they will be judged by the PSSP team. The ‘Best Flag’ will win hot chips for the whole class!

A Pride Parade, which all students and staff are welcome to participate in, will be taking place at lunch time on Friday 29th June. Starting outside the auditorium it will march around the school grounds and end at D Block carpark – where students in the school Pasifika group will be selling delicious food and celebrating pride within the Pacific culture.

These events sure sound like a whole lot of fun. Makes you proud to be a part of Green Bay High School, doesn’t it?
