Vietnam War Veteran

Guest Speaker
Level One History students were very privileged to have Vietnam War Veteran, Ray Farrell, as a guest speaker.

Ray came into their classes this week to talk about his experiences in the Vietnam War. This was an excellent opportunity for students to hear about history from someone’s personal experience and in particular, Ray’s descriptions of jungle warfare and Viet Cong tactics were eye opening for the students

Students interviewed Ray and will use this information in their up-coming research assessment, on NZ involvement in and protest against the Vietnam War.

Ray is currently the Auckland RSA Direct Support Advisor, helping veterans in need with physical and mental health issues. Ray also spoke about the RSA Poppy appeal which helps Vet’s in need.

Each year, Green Bay High School takes part in our local Anzac Day parade, in Titirangi village. This year Anzac Day is on Wednesday 25 April. We look forward to seeing you there!
