Innovative Ideas
Children at Laingholm Kindergarten will see their ideas come to life when their swings get a much-needed facelift – thanks to the artistic talents of the GBHS Art Club!

On Wednesday morning Mrs James and a small group of Year 10 students from our school’s Art Club (Mara Koopmanschap, Keith Riguer, Caitlin Schroder, Emily Simpson and Toni Wallace) visited Laingholm Kindergarten to meet the pupils and discuss ideas around the artwork for their tired-looking swing framing.

Listening intently to all the of the youngster’s ideas (during circle time on the mat) our students are now armed with a rather extensive list of colours, patterns and animals that the children would like to see painted on their swings.

Before coming up with some drafts of initial concepts and ideas, our Art Club went out to have a look at the swings and framing. Next year, they will create some draft drawings for the Kindergarten to choose from, before arranging times to complete the painting process.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed their visit – especially ‘Santa’s Grotto’ – and gained valuable experience in having a client brief them on artwork requirements.
