Making a Difference – Learning Beyond the Classroom: Year 10 Social Action students visited VisionWest’s Pātaka Kai, as part of their wider learning about driving social change.

Students met Linda Potauaine who showcased the importance of the Pātaka Kai in supporting our community; providing free food, assistance and advice for those in need. This holistic approach to support offered by the Pātaka Kai as well as the other services provided by VisionWest aims at restoring mana back to those in need, empowering them to move forward.

Social Action class students have learnt about global social movements and are now focusing on their involvement in social change at a local level. In Term 4, students will further develop their understanding of social action and the impact it has on our community with a ‘Can Drive’ event at Green Bay High School including neighbouring Green Bay School.
