Outdoor Education

The position of Green Bay High School at the base of the Waitakere Ranges and within easy drive of the West Coast beaches means that education in the outdoors is ‘part of what we do’.

The LIA (Learning in Action) programme in the junior school encourages students to take part in the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award programme. Our house names are taken from the beaches that host our surf team training and our students taking part in local SLSC competitions. But whilst the local environment, both ranges and sea, is stunning, Green Bay High School students also have opportunities to take on the world. Our relationship with World Challenge has seen students plan, prepare and execute an expedition to the jungles of Borneo; and Sri Lanka, with students participating in local community projects.
