For Levels 2 & 3

Thanks for coming!
The NCEA parent information evening, held on Wednesday evening, provided a guide to parents and students regarding details of levels 2 & 3 NCEA.

Topics covered included information about University Entrance Literacy at Level 2, and at Level 3 the intricacies of calculating a rank score and the importance of selecting university approved subjects for students planning to go to University.

Here is a helpful guide for further information about NCEA.

Careers staff and Form teachers are busy helping students make decisions using the online platform DreamCatcher – a web based tool which allows students to gradually build their individual career profile and pathway. The site also has interactive tools, links to tertiary websites, and up-to-date information on careers and employment opportunities. Information can be stored for future use and edited as interests change.

Courses students choose to take at school can affect what they can do when they leave. Science, Technology, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) related courses, as well as English and/or Te Reo Māori, help keep options open to a wide range of careers, students are also encouraged to select subjects based on their interests and skills as research shows students who choose this criterion are more likely to be successful.

All university-approved subjects are labelled UE Pathway in the course handbooks. The deadline for inputting subjects into DreamCatcher is August 31st.
