Musicians, Songbirds and Music Extravaganzas…it’s all happening at Green Bay music!

The Auditorium is always alive with the sound of musical showcases throughout the year. Many students perform as soloists or in groups for assessment purposes and are widely supported by friends, family and the wider community. The music department continues to contribute to school assemblies providing live music and entertainment.

SMOKEFREEROCKQUEST bands: Title Pending, Hair Like Nana’s, Linway Street, Angels of Troy.

SMOKEFREEROCKQUEST duo/solo: Jessica Bannister, Claudia Hall & Reuben Ashcroft, Cameron Mason McCurdy, Liam Nuttall and Heidi Simpson.

Cameron Mason McCurdy placed 3rd in the Auckland solo/duo final and also won best lyrics. Linway Street placed 3rd in the Central Auckland band competition.

Play it Strange: the top 40 songs included three songs from GBHS – our best achievement to date: “Faith Coat” by Title Pending, “You Have Witches” by Xanthe Brookes and “Hurts Like Hell” by Heidi Simpson were selected to be professionally recorded at From the Crate Records (with Jeremy Toy), or at Roundhead Studios.

Courtney Hate and Title Pending have had a very busy year performance wise with frequent gigs and a trip to perform in Wellington in August. Courtney Hate performed in The Others Way music festival in September and were also invited to perform one the of the five finalist songs at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards late in September.

Our musicians perform a variety of community performances at Titirangi Library for NZ Music Month, and bands also feature in the Titirangi Festival of Music. Our very own Songbirds gave a moving performance on ANZAC Day at the ceremony in Titirangi Village. Regular visits to Crestwood Retirement Village, performing  for residents. Music Showcases in April and August are always warmly supported by friends, family and the wider community. Student performers also provide entertainment at Green Bay Street Food events.
