He aha te kai ō te rangatira? He Kōrero, he kōrero, he kōrero

What is the food of the leader. It is knowledge. It is communication
On Monday evening (3 December) a farewell was held in our school Auditorium, to honour Principal Morag Hutchinson and wish her well for her retirement. Morag has been a leader in education for over 43 years. Starting out as a young teacher at Rutherford High School in 1976, Morag’s appetite for learning and the sharing of knowledge led her to become Associate Principal at Howick College in 1996 before taking on her final role as Principal of Green Bay High School in 2005. Throughout her roles in leadership, Morag gained her Masters in Education, completed a placement at Harvard University and was instrumental in building a collaborative relationship between twelve local schools creating a learning community to investigate how 7000+ learners can be supported throughout their schooling. With investigation and research, the Kōtuitui Community of Learning / Kāhui Ako will continue to lift aspirations and raise educational achievement for every learner in our community.

During the evening, guest speakers spoke of their admiration of Morag and her passion for teaching and shared many fond memories. This was followed by a lighthearted slideshow of Morag through the years showing the many changes which have occured during her time at Green Bay High School, such as the introduction of a school uniform, multi million dollar building upgrades, BYOD integration, and new marketing and branding – bringing Green Bay High School to become widely known as a place that is: Individualised, Innovative, Connected.
