Compassion, Kindness and Personal Growth

Te Aratika
Green Bay High School’s student leaders are set to leave a legacy reflecting our school values of Excellence, Courage, Respect, Responsiveness.

The group are excited to announce their new initiative whereby students will work alongside students in Te Aratika, using a buddy system to help students in Te Aratika feel a sense of belonging, with their integration into lunchtime activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for those willing to help those students who haven’t experienced mainstream schooling in the past. Additionally, it will provide students with skills in compassion, kindness, and personal growth.

This programme will involve spending time, hanging out, and completing activities with the students of Te Aratika during one lunchtime per week.

Student volunteers will be supported by the Te Aratika staff, as well as accompanied to and throughout the sessions by Year 13 student leaders. There is plenty of flexibility with options to support you as much as possible.

Our partnership with Oaklynn School means that Green Bay High School is also the home base for three classes of students from Oaklynn School. Located in L-block the Oaklynn classes, Te Aratika, Tahi, Rua and Toru provide supported learning for students who have specialised learning needs.
