Four student ambassadors participated in the West Auckland Pasifika Forum recently. Alana Murray-Tele, Joshua Napa, Rose Talaga and Amilani Talia’uli are now part of the youth leadership development project which will end approximately June, 2015.

The Summit itself will be designed to include Pasifika youth in the planning of the project modules to follow in the ensuing months. These modules are being finalised now but examples of the themes will include leadership, cultural identity, communication, neighbourhood development and career goals and pathways.  WAPF will also be meeting with parents and caregivers after the Summit to build partnership connections with them prior to the beginning of the Project.

The West Auckland Pasifika Forum (WAPF), in conjunction with the Auckland Council, held a youth leadership development project in the West Auckland region earlier this month. Green Bay High was invited to attend and took advantage of this opportunity.

The West Auckland Pasifika Forum is a multi-agency collective comprising members from the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education, The Project, Unitec Institute of Technology, Youth Services West, BEST Pacific Institute of Education, West Fono, NZ Police.
