Kia ora e te whānau, as per the Prime Minister’s announcement (11 October 2021), schools in Auckland will not be back for face-to-face learning at the start of Term 4. At Green Bay High School, this means that the GBHS GO structure will resume from October 18th for all students.

Year 9 and 10 student bubbles:  Students that are unable to be cared for at home during Alert Level Three are able to be supervised onsite from October 18th. Students will be learning online and will be organised in bubbles of 10 and will follow all Alert Level Three health and safety requirements. Please contact Associate Principal Chris Woodward if you/your child needs to be at school during Alert Level Three.

NCEA practice and external examinations:  I know that senior students will be worried about what the extended period of online learning will mean for both our practice exam period and the NZQA externals at the end of the year. We have not yet had any further communication from the Ministry of Education or NZQA but expect to receive updated guidance this week about NCEA qualifications, senior student bubbles and other information that will help with Term Four planning. The Senior Leadership Team met online today and will be working with Heads of Faculty across the week once we have more from the MoE and NZQA.

We’ll share more information with you as soon as possible, but rest assured that we’ll do everything to make sure that all students at Green Bay High School have the best possible opportunity to learn and complete qualifications during Term Four.

Take care, Fiona Barker PRINCIPAL
