The Year 12 Physical Education Outdoors class will be attending a surfing camp on the 19th – 20th March 2018 to complete their surfing assessment which is worth 9 credits.

The surfing camp will be either at Piha or Omaha / Goat Island. We will confirm the location of the camp the week before we leave once we know the surf reports for each coast.

During their time on camp students will have time to practise their surfing, and complete their surfing assessment. They may also take part in other activities such as scavenger hunts, snorkelling, adventure based learning activities, kayaking, and bush walks. The activities they do other than surfing depend on whether we go to Piha or Omaha / Goat Island.

Students will be camping in tents and will need to organise some of their own equipment and food. We will discuss this in class so each student knows what they need to contribute to their group.

Students will be travelling to and from camp in school vans. Students need to be at school at 8.30am on Monday 19th March. They will be returning to school around 4pm on Tuesday 20th March.

This is a great opportunity for all students to gain experience, knowledge and skills in surfing and to improve their confidence and relationships with others as well as gaining credits towards their NCEA level 2.

Usual school rules apply on these trips. If misbehaviour occurs which puts your son/daughter or others at risk your student may miss out on other trips throughout the year.
