Inaugural Competition

House Event
Student leaders are making sure they leave a legacy of fun and enthusiasm, encouraging student well-being and camaraderie, within up and coming House events – and the inaugural Dare to Devise Competition is leading by example!

This Tuesday saw the first Green Bay High School ‘Dare to Devise’ House competition. Teams from each House set out to devise an up to 5 minute performance based around the theme of Peace, as this year the competition was held during Peace week.

Under the wonderful guidance of Student Trustee, Jasper O’Kane, the groundwork was set for five amazing performances. As the stress increased both Piha and Anawhata crumbled leaving the stage clear for Whatipu, Karekare and Muriwai.

With comments from the Judges such as “Great energy”, “Love those smiles” and “Loved seeing your teacher up on stage!” it was easy to see this was a funfilled lunchtime event.

We were super-lucky to have the 2017 Drama award winner, Liam Wilkinson, return as a guest judge. Not only did he judge, he also designed and made the new Dare to Devise House shield. A huge thanks to Cambrian Plastics for sponsoring this award!

Congratulations to Whatipu, who as the winning House, were pleased to hold this new trophy aloft.

Lots of laughter and enthusiasm ensued and as a result, we are sure that this event is going to become a fun House competition in the years to come. Legend!
