New and exciting trips, expert community collaborations and of course a very sparkly and entertaining Dance showcase…it’s all happening at Green Bay Dance.

In January, and right at the last minute, senior dance students were invited to take part Ruaumoko, bringing 100 young performers together with Atamira Dance Company and APO, following Hine Ariki as she sets out to calm the rumblings of Ruaumoko, god of earthquakes. Many hours of dedication and commitment by our students lead to Ruaumoko being showcased during the Auckland Arts Festival to wide acclaim – an exceptional opportunity for our students to gain a glimpse into the world of professional dance.

As Dance numbers continue to grow, opportunities have arisen for specialists within varying fields of dance to run workshops with students. We have been privileged to have some highly respected industry dancers teach Hip-Hop right through to Flamenco, as well as professionals from the New Zealand Dance Company come share their expertise. This all helps to form and shape the dances appearing in our annual dance showcase – an evening bursting at the seams with the talent Green Bay High School Dance has to offer.
