Sarah Luxton’s ‘Perfect Poached Pear’ with Caramel Sauce.

At the end of term 1, as part of the Level 1 Hospitality course at Green Bay High School, students have now completed their final fruit practical assessment, worth three NCEA credits.

Sarah Luxton (Year 11) created a perfectly poached pear with caramel sauce (pictured above). Her creativity and attention to detail is amazing!

Level 1 Hospitality covers topics relevant to food and catering in the Hospitality industry. The course is practical-based with some theory and covers food hygiene and safe food practices. Students learn how to prepare fruit and vegetables, meat cookery, learn to bake industry standard cakes and sponges; as well as correct use and storage of knives as well as workplace Health & Safety.
