Tech Expo

Wonderful pieces of work from Design & Visual Communication, Product Design, Textiles Design, Construction, and Mechanics were on display for viewing in the foyer of the school auditorium throughout the week.

Students design and create inspiring pieces of work in consultation with genuine clients and stakeholders. Building relationships within community, council and local industries allows students to problem solve ‘real life’ issues, such as eco materials or ergonomic design.

A prize-giving took place last night in celebration of another year of fantastic work from the Technology Department.

Congratulations to Robbie Raikes (Year 13), who was awarded the New Lynn Rotary Club Trades Scholarship, valued at $500 – which he will use towards his apprenticeship. Emma Walker (Year 13), won Best in L3 Product Design – receiving the prize of a MSA120 cordless Chainsaw (incl. Battery & charger) RRP$575. People’s Choice winner went to Timothy Bannister (Year 12) for his steampunk light creation. Derek Hobbis (technology assistant), thought all his Christmas’s had come at once, when he won the draw (from everyone who nominated a people’s choice) – and walked away with the FSA56 Cordless Line Trimmer (incl. Battery & charger) RRP$445. Thank you to the Glen Eden Stihl shop, who donated those amazing prizes!
