“I can not even explain the happiness I feel being this week’s ASB’s Good as Gold winner,” says Tayla.

“My reaction is genuine and it’s one that I’m still in shock from.”

Tayla founded her not-for-profit ‘Mummys in Need’ business when she was just 13 years old, which has steadily grown in demand over the past 6 years. Tayla creates various packs of goodies for new mothers including essential items such as milk formula, nappies, clothing and baby cleaning products.

As a Year 9 student, Tayla was featured in our GBHS school newsletter (July 2014) with having just started her not-for-profit ‘Mummys in Need’ business. Tayla continued with her passion to help others throughout her secondary schooling, and in 2018 when she was a Year 13 student, Tayla featured once again in our GBHS school newsletter (November 2018) having received a Kiwibank Local Hero Medal for her outstanding commitment to helping families in our community.

But the accolades don’t stop there! Tayla is also “super stoked” to be a recipient of the YWCA’s initiative: The Y25 List featuring 25 young women who are future leaders in their fields. From over 100 nominations the Y25 List provides a year’s mentorship to help recipients grow their connections and offer support and guidance them to achieve their goals. Awesome work Tayla, we wish you all the best!
