Sabbatical Award

Professional learning and reflection
This year I have been fortunate to have received a Principal’s Sabbatical Award, and so will be on leave during term 2. The award is intended to provide the recipient with an opportunity to engage in some professional learning and reflection, returning to school refreshed with new ideas and energy. It is a privilege to have this chance to reflect on the future direction of the school.

My sabbatical focus is on the work of John Hattie. Since the publication of his research, Visible Learning: A synthesis of over 800 meta-analyses relating to achievement in 2009, his ideas have had significant impact in many schools, both locally and internationally. My interest is in identifying how this can be used in the secondary school context, and align with the work we are already doing at Green Bay High School.

During my leave, the Acting Principal will be Chris Woodward. He will be well supported by the other members of our Senior Leadership team. I am very fortunate to have such a strong team around me, so the school will be in fantastic and very safe hands.
