There are many ways we work at keeping our school safe. This week we had a visit from Max and Jet, the canine wonder-dogs who pop in to our school from time to time. Their job is to do a check of the grounds and buildings to provide us with some assurance that there is not any significant activity going on in our school involving illicit substances. As well, Max and Jet’s handler, Chris Petropoulis, uses the opportunity to deliver some important health and safety messages to our students. Mr Woodward (DP) and Deans were in attendance while this process was in operation and they reported that it was a good and very positive experience for our students. Nothing of concern was found in the course of the visit but there was some excellent learning.
Next week we will outline some more safety processes that we use at school, and/or access through external agencies. As we head into the summer break families may find it useful to know how much extra support is available in our community to help keep us all safe.
